Battle of Wounded Welly

Oh, Eve got back fine last Wednesday night – the only seeming problem being that she lost her phone (possibly near Notre Dame – loss off something being by nature unknowable in the definite) so all that effort to get thing onto the phone for entertainment was largely lost – hey ho.    Turns out getting that all sorted out was a lot easier than I’d anticipated, as part of the ‘deal’ with these phones I’ve got Jude and Eve was the cheapness of the contract allowing insurance to be part of of all – so it being insured, it’s already replaced.  This is in, marked contrast to Jude’s phone being repaired under manufacturers warranty,  which took nigh on a month.

Still…

They’re all on half term this week (wish I was).  Jack and Esme went off on a geocaching hike yesterday afternoon. They think they overshot the target (bridestones) and the sole of Esme’s welly came adrift so she was very muddy/soggy when they got back at dusk – and being father, I ended up muddy trying to pull the wounded welly off her.

…been a while of lack of updates.  while i’d not be so foolish as to say ‘oh yes, i’ll be here regularly now’  I’ve actually got the domain and the website sorted out at last, so in theory there’s nothing stopping me.

for now here’s a picture:

Jack not so well today. We went out to Manchester… there was a pretext that I hand in the job application to the GMP that I’d competed at 01:15 yesterday. Thence back into the centre of Manchester – some food, & Louise & Jack went one way with me taking Eve, Jude & Esme down to Paperchase (via the vodaphone shop – spec for Eve’s birthday pressie. loopng back to meet up with Louise & Jack at Watertones.

Jack was sick this evening – bit of a temperature, but he’s quite a bit better at the moment (just right for staying up all night…) He has a new mp3 player that I picked up for him off the market for £8 – was worried that it might not work, but it seems fine – he’s onto some audiobooks.

Well, that took longer than I would have liked… I have now reposted everything that was on the old blog to this new blog. It would have been easier if I could have got access to the old blog database as that would have allowed import/export properly… No, I had the database through phpMySQL, but not in an … oh never mind… That’s all too boring… I found that I could not effectively import things, that’s the point; so I have been left with no choice but to ‘manually import’. Being now unemployed this was not too bad, because I have a little more of the ‘time’ thing.

Right – I think I should basically leave things for now – Jack’s off to school in a minute, I’m sure Esme will be here soon as well (wake up & come downstairs), so I stop.

stressed Jude

Not been typing too much this week…

Though it might do a little more what with that verbose chuntering on Monday, but, one thing & another. Jude was awake quite a bit in the night this week. His cough was playing him up & his imagination was running away with him. He caught some of the news from Israel’s invasion of Gaza where they reported that a whole family was wiped out (excepting one) & that seems to have resonated with a fear in him. You cannot deny that there’s a lot of bad in the world, but I’ve pointed out we’re privileged to live in a mostly peaceful country.

I also took him to the doctors for his relentless cough & his asthma is not so bad at the moment – it’s more the fact that 9s throat is irritated, so we were given some piriton & that seems to have calmed things down considerably for him. That said he’s still prone to a little unreasonable worry or so at the moment. He noticed that his new front (lower) teeth are not as smooth as his milk teeth. Adult teeth seem to have more ridges along the top. He does not like this; the shape of his teeth on his tongue annoys him. Yesterday he had a bit if a panic attack at school & Louise was called down to see him because he though that he had swallowed a chip off his tooth. I’m not sure if he’d mentioned this as the cause, but he had some ventolin & calmed down. …He’s a funny one because he is also very strong – quite independently minded, but … his self confidence has taken a knock of recent.

On the whole Jack is doing very well. He seems to have got to grips a lot better with the homework thing & is getting more done & doing it better. This takes out a lump of stress from the daily routine & is much appreciated,
