SundayComic: comic drawn on Sundays from Life and photo-reference. Just a nice day out in Manchester, meeting up with our Esme & having a Coffee & a big old walk after picking up some groceries.

SundayComic: comic drawn on Sundays from Life and photo-reference. With the addition of actual sunshine, today felt the most spring-like for a while. Opting to go for a bit walk (out before midday) we went up to Bridestones (pretty directly & quite rapidly) and it was hecking windy & degrees chillier because of this, but we were happy. Heading over all the stones on the moor (& the boggy sogginess) we headed downward nearer Orchan so opted to check out the abundance of snowdrops on Bluebell Lane, then down by the mast to & Hartley Wood (which has great atmosphere with mossy twisting oaks)
We mostly managed to avoid main roads on the way back down the valley as well (a plus)

Back to being chilly & damp (hey ho, roll on Spring).
Today's featured footsteps was 'squelch' (or perhaps 'squertch'). There was an objective for Louise & I - to visit a hole in the road; we achieved this, with a snack & a drink for a video for the 'family group chat'.

SundayComic: comic drawn on Sundays from Life and photo-reference. We have Jack & Esme home at the moment. Jack came up (sort of) to get a haircut and see us before heading off to the continent on a walking holiday with Gina. Esme (kind of) to pick up a new phone ordered here (because the old one was dying). Off adventuring to wider places for walking (seeing as we can get there by car) , but just over to the next valley over (sort of) for a walk up a hill in Bacup. Familiar & very different.

SundayComic: comic drawn on Sundays from Life and photo-reference. it held off raining today, which made the day very nice; especially good for a nice walk up to
Heptonstall & around to Gibson's Mill & back into Hebden with Caroline. 20K steps (maybe) while were out. I'll have to get some more daffodils tomorrow, as last weeks lasted ok until today, (hanging on this morning) but were visibly 'done' by the time we got home. Small luxuries that brighten.

SundayComic: comic drawn on Sundays from Life and photo-reference. It's January, the days may be getting longer, but still it's dull & wet out there. We have good walking spaces nonetheless & we get out a little bit. While Esme is now back in Manchester for Uni, Jude is back from Uni for a couple of days.
I guess it's not freezing; that's something.

SundayComic: comic drawn on Sundays from Life and photo-reference. Today's theme was dark & grey. We slept in a little because it wasn't exactly a bright start to the day. \we were not especially enthused to go out walking because it's damp & there clouds just enveloped everything, but when we did get out, while murky, it was atmospheric and even.. a little enjoyable as a consequence. Esme made passata pasta with roasted garlic tomatoes which we had with the focaccia we got from Darley Street market yesterday.

It rained, and it rained some more. On the plus side, it's not freezing, so that's good. Some tidying up done, and some throwing out of stuff we've not used in years, so this is good too. Never mind the dull, wet and cold, we have things to do.

Happy New Year. today's 'thing' is it's cold. Yes, January usually is, but I guess we've been 'lucky' these past couple of months to not his this 'minus' level of cold. Still, it was a continuation of the bright, clear conditions. Today, I got a little obsessed with the pools of frost that remain all around (not always where you expect the sun not to be though; there's something I'm not understanding fully here). Expanding crystalising water.

That curious time between Christmas & New Year, where you start to become unanchored from the routines that help encompass a week.
I'm happily tired today.
As well as a drive and a very good walk, we also opted for a little pizza, so this really was a bit of an indulgent day.
